| ROAD SENSE Definition: The ability to behave in a safe way when driving, walking, etc. on roads. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary - to stay alive, while respecting other road users: pedestrians, riders, drivers, etc. LOOK LEFT AND RIGHT. 2. Behaviour does not contradict any road rule and regulation, while all the road/traffic signs are understood and obeyed. LISTEN WELL AND CAREFULLY. 3. Hurry, speed, etc. where necessary, will be recognizable by other road users, from the use of a shout, scream, siren, horn, some flashers, outriders, etc. (where applicable). LOOK UP AND DOWN. 4. A faster or more desperate road user - driver, jogger, walker, rider, etc. - will be given the 'right of way'! (To emphasize.) THINK FAST AND QUICK. 5. Ability will derive from an excellent frame of mind. That is, safe rider or walker will not be absent-minded, inebriated, groggy, frustrated, dizzy, agitated, etc. LOOK AROUND, AHEAD AND BACK. 6. Carefulness or thoroughness, slowness or patience, etc. will serve purpose(s) or achieve goal(s). That is, destination(s) will eventually be reached, safely and timely.
