| RIFLEMAN Definitions: i. A soldier who carries a rifle. ii. A soldier armed with a rifle. iii. A person with respect to his skill in using a rifle. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements would be in. 1. Purposeful to issue soldier with weapon (see perfect WAR (2)). 2. Considered a necessity to give soldier a rifle instead of some other weapon (see perfect RESPONSE TIME). 3. Weapon in soldier's possession is the official one issued by the employer (= army!) (see perfect ARMOURY). ________________________________ * IN WARTIME OR PEACETIME. 4. Soldier has been adequately trained to handle weapon effectively and/or proficiently (see perfect RECRUIT (1)). 5. Soldier is in the right frame of mind and in with a presence of mind at the time he or she is in possession of weapon. That is, never goes berserk with the rifle! (see perfect PROVOCATION). 6. Has self-discipline throughout period with weapon. That is, not expected to go on AWOL, etc., with rifle (see perfect WAR GAME (1)). _________________________________________________________ * DURING AN EXERCISE OR IN A THEATRE OF OPERATION. 7. Rifle is in a serviceable state and with the appropriate ammunition. And soldier looks after 'baby' well: cleans and oils the rifle! And ensures that the safety catch is on, when not about to immediately use rifle (see perfect READINESS (1)). 8. Possession serves purpose(s). (After which rifle is returned immediately to the armoury.) (see perfect RECOIL). 9. Soldier is never disarmed by a criminal, or as a result of indiscipline, drunkenness, etc.!
