| RESTITUTION (1) Definition: [ ~ (of something) (to somebody/something) ] (formal) The act of giving back something that was lost or stolen to its owner. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful (to emphasize). 2. Considered a necessity to return thing. 3. Given back timely - not a 'second' longer than necessary. 4. Returned in the state in which it was recovered or in the condition it was in, when decision was taken to return thing. That is, the item is not used on recovery or deliberately overused before return to the rightful owner. 5. No expectation of, or demand for, an appreciation or compensation. And no refusal, if offered a reward for act. 6. Confession, apology, explanation, admittance, etc., as applicable, if necessary, is offered to owner, by the person returning thing, whether person is directly or indirectly connected with earlier disappearance and/or crime. 7. Thing returned is useful or could still be useful for owner. 8. Act achieves objective(s) or serves purpose(s), as hoped or planned for. 9.
