Definition: The process of taking an exam or a test again, usually after failing it the first time.

1. Purposeful and necessary (connect to #2).

2. Compulsory to rewrite examination/test.

3. Former failure was not the result of wrong marking/grading or recording of marks. That is, in case of a remarking of the scripts, (new) scores would not result in a pass/success.

4. Arrangements for the repeat exam are correct and in place in good time. That is, notification, examination dates and timings, venue, invigilator(s), etc. are adequately prepared and made ready.

5. Questions/problems to be answered/solved in the exam are within the syllabus (to emphasize).

6. No cheating by student or offer of external, unapproved help during the retake.

7. Exam or test is passed in flying colours. (To emphasize.)

8. Marking by examiner and/or grading by recorder is strictly according to the (a) marking script/recording rules.

9. Result obtained, hopefully a good one, serves purpose(s).
