| REFUGEE (2) Definition: A person who has been forced to leave their country or home, because there is a war or for political, religious or social reasons. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary - to stay alive! And safe, well, etc. 2. Reasons or causes are true. That is, the political, religious or social circumstances responsible for movement are real. 3. Person is received and acknowledged by the host. 4. Does not break the laws or rules of the host community or country. _____________________ NOT HOPELESS ! 5. Properly protected by the law in new abode. That is, person has rights and privileges in the new place and these are respected. 6. Well cared for. That is, proper or appropriate attention, provisions/supplies, etc. is available or provided for the person. ______________________ NOT VOICELESS !! 7. Person is fully integrated into new community/society. (Connect to #3, #5 & #6.) 8. Makes positive contributions to the progress of benevolent host family/community/society/country.
