| REFORMATORY Definition: (North American English) A type of school that young criminals are sent to instead of prison. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful to establish type of school (to emphasize, connect to #2). 2. Considered necessary not to send young criminals to other forms of correctional facilities/institutions. 3. School is officially recognized and properly established, with approved curriculum, regular syllabus, work placement, etc., as appropriate. 4. Well-manned or staffed by appropriately qualified officials/teachers/administrators, etc. (Connect to #8.) 5. Properly and constantly monitored by the regulatory authorities. 6. Qualification, certificates, etc. acquired are recognized outside the 'prison system'. 7. School serves purpose(s).
