Red card
RED CARD

Definition: (in football (soccer)) A card shown by the referee to a player who has broken the rules of the game and is not allowed to play for the rest of the game.

1. Purposeful - to punish offender.

2. Necessity to show card - rule: order and control.

3. Offence for which player is dismissed (= tackle, kick, hit, etc.) does not lead to a loss of life, on or off the pitch, immediately or afterwards.

4. Offence committed gets the team of sent-of player an advantage.

5. Referee is level-headed. That is, sending off was justified and within the rules of the game. In other words, decision was spot on.

6. The team of the 'lawbreaker' takes advantage of the 'opportunity' provided.
