| RECOMMENDATION (2) Definition: The act of telling somebody that something is good or useful or that somebody would be suitable for a particular job, etc. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful to give an approval. 2. Considered a necessity to give a reference. 3. There is a basis for 'belief' - experience, knowledge, training, qualification, observation, etc. - not just dependent on a mere acquaintance or hope. 4. Report or comment is meant. That is, can be stood by, if it becomes necessary to defend person (connect to #5). 5. Something valuable can be staked in support of claim. That is, person telling is not anonymous - will disclose full identity and state relationship to the person being recommended. 6. What is said (or written) is completely true. 7. What is said or written is unconditional (to emphasize). 8. Remarks or comments made are specific and detailed and open-ended, whether a signed note (if applicable), is dated or undated. 9.
