| REBUKE Definition: An act of speaking severely to somebody because they have done something wrong. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary, for speaker to be severe in utterance and/or in the manner of talk. 2. Wrongdoer was warned or cautioned before committing wrong. Or person who did bad was not expected to do wrong thing. 3. Words chosen are the harshest available at the time, even as they won't be dehumanizing or scornful. (To emphasize, connect to #4.) 4. Speaker did not indirectly or inadvertently contribute to the commission of particular wrong that he or she condemns. 5. The tone or voice pitch, visage or looks, etc. of talker conveys a seriousness about the disappointment. But no physicality will be involved, no matter the gravity of a sin or an offence. 6. Wrongdoer gets no chance to say a word. And listens all through reprimand, remonstration, bollocking, etc. (Connect to #8.) 7. Act commences at the right time and lasts for duration believed adequate to make meaning or to have desired impact or effect. 8. The right thing that should have been done is known.
