| RAT RACE Definitions: i. (usually - the rat race) (disapproving) The way of life of people living and working in a large city where people compete in an aggressive way with each other in order to be more successful, earn more money, etc. ii. (popular, informal) A hectic rush, frantic scramble (used especially of the struggle to earn a living in an industrial economy under conditions which tend to dehumanize). ______________________________________________________________________ * All four elements would be in. 1. Not just for the 'fittest'; it takes guile, cunning, etc. d. Anyone and every other 'rat' can be a 'quarry'; no prisoners taken. e. No real 'luck' during this scramble (connect to c). f.
