| RADIOACTIVITY Definition: The property possessed by some natural elements (e.g. radium, uranium) and many synthetic elements (all those with atomic numbers greater than 92) of spontaneously undergoing nuclear decay, emitting either an alpha particle (reducing their atomic number by 2 and mass number by 4) or a beta particle (increasing their atomic number by 1, leaving their mass number unaltered). ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1.
