| RACE RELATIONS Definition: The relationships between people of different races who live in the same community. ______________________________________________________________________ * All twelve elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary - peaceful coexistence. 2. Plain (honest) and transparent (truthful) interactions (= acts and actions) amongst all the people living together. 3. Communication is not one-directional. That is, discussions, meetings, etc. are robust, 'two-way', whenever these hold (connect to #2). _____________ 4. Understanding and appreciation of one another's strengths and weaknesses exists between the different races. 5. Competition is present but this is of the bridge-building and confidence-boosting type. 6. Criticisms of the other race(s) exist, but these are not put-downs or biased remarks, but factual and objective comments. (Connect to #4.) _____________ 7. Support and help exchanged between groups are true and genuine, without undue restrictions or unjustified limitations/conditions. 8. Residences, premises, etc. are not distinctly demarcated. That is, no high walls or fences, etc. in the community. _____________ 9. No discrimination by the law enforcement agents or inefficiency in the operation of the criminal justice system. That is, justice is alive and well (= reigns supreme) in the community. 10. Persons in the community can pursue their dreams without fear or a hindrance from people of other races. That is, fear or anxiety does not exists as a result of difference in race. _____________ 11. (Reserved.) (Disagreements will exist from time to time but these would always be resolved amicably and timely. And relations or relationship will not be forcefully maintained by the instrument of the law.) 12.
