| QUI VIVE Definition: (idiomatic - on the qui vive) Paying close attention to a situation, in case something happens. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary to be closely attentive (to emphasize). That is, a suspicion of the likelihood of an occurrence will exists. 2. 'Equipped' at the time. That is, all the faculties or senses are in excellent order. In other words, there will be an ability to fully recognize and appreciate whatever might happen. 3. The wherewithal will be possessed. That is, required time and space, tools, contact, support, etc. to deal with any eventuality will be possessed. 4. Attention will be full, concentrated and focused, whether eyes are fixed or roving, even if no idea is possessed of the probable thing to happen - no digression or diversion ! 5. A detailed and current plan will be in place, with a Plan B, if necessary. That is, 'things-to-do', process or procedures, etc. needed to respond or react, to a development, will be surely known. 6. Preparations are complete, there is a readiness, now attentive party, is only waiting to act or react or overreact, as applicable and necessary, announced (openly) or not (secretly). 7. Attentiveness lasts for as long as an expectation of a happening exists. Or continues only until a certainty that nothing is expected again is secured, but still, no lapsing into unconsciousness, ... _________________ ..., just in case. | |
