| PROVOCATION Definition: The act of doing or saying something deliberately in order to make somebody angry or upset; something that is done or said to cause this. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements would be in. * This is about the action or talk. 1. Purposeful for doer or talker, whether sober or drunk. 2. Person being provoked has not done anything to warrant being angered or upset. _____________ 3. What is said or done is clearly understood by the subject it is directed at, to achieve desired impact. 4. Act or talk is of the person's own freewill. That is, person getting another angry or upset is not an agent provocateur. __________________ 5. Person causing anger, etc. is not too near to get or feel the effect(s) of an action or reaction, if any. (This person may get his or her just deserts, afterwards, any which way.) 6. Action or speech results in a response by the angry or upset person. That is, outcome of anger is not suppressed. (Connect to #5.) _________________________ 7. Person provoked can manage situation. That is, anger does not get out of hand and become uncontrollable. 8. Action or speech, or response or inaction, is not regretted later by either of the parties involved in the act (connect to #5 & #7). 9.
