| PROFIT MARGIN Definitions: i. The difference between the cost of buying or producing something and the price that it is sold for. ii. The difference between the selling price of a product and the cost of producing and marketing it. ______________________________________________________________________ * Only one characteristic ! 1. Difference - in percentage - is REASONABLE !! ______________________________ a. Total cost elements are lawful - no bungs, tips, etc. included. b. Computation of costs was correctly and completely done. c. All legal obligations, concerning payments, especially during the production circle, have been duly fulfilled. d. Production methods adopted were most cost-effective; no deliberate wastage, spoilage, etc. e. Goods or services are 'moving'. That is, customers/buyers are available and patronage is encouraging. f. Exchange rate(s) used, if applicable, in making conversions and fixing selling price, is/are stable. g. No price controls or price war or price fixing regime in place. h. All the expenditure payment instruments - notes and coins - were made with genuine currency or currencies! i. Overheads will not be considerably erratic, especially after production and before sales. j. Selling price will be fixed for some reasonable period. k. There will be no desire or wish to increase or reduce selling price during the period. l. Stock will be available in adequate quantities - no hoarding, overheating, etc. m. Product will not be a fake, presented as genuine and/or service will not be the outcome of, or a fallout from, a put-up job! n. Final and most important consideration will be the risk involved. ______________________________________ Recommended minimum margin: 7%. Recommended maximum margin: 15%. | |
