Definition: The act of prescribing medicine.

1. Purposeful to achieve a particular aim: to live or to kill!

2. Necessity, that is, justifiable to prescribe (connect to #1).

3. Happens at the end of a consultation period/session. That is, patient is present in the doctor's.

4. Patient is asked about allergies, etc. Or past history of drug intake is found out (if applicable).

5. No talking or singing or whistling or dancing by doctor while writing is being done.

6. Appropriate authority/authorities is/are consulted and reference is made, repeatedly if required, to findings of the earlier tests and examinations, where necessary.

7. Explanation and demonstration, if necessary, on use, application, etc. of medicine, is given to or provided for the patient.

8. Question(s) relating to use of drugs prescribed, if asked by patient, is/are satisfactorily answered by the doctor(s).

9. Act is performed by one doctor. Or responsibility is taken by a doctor, where consultation with patient was performed by a group.

10. Act is completed or concluded timely and paper given to patient.
