| PREOCCUPATION (2) Definition: A mood created by thinking or worrying about something and ignoring everything else. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary (connect to #3). 2. Things ignored are important and/or serious. 3. Not really deliberate, that is, single-mindedness was not exactly planned. In other words, mood crept up/in without a full awareness. __________________ 4. There is a difficulty or a possibility of danger or loss as a result of the other things that are ignored. 5. Thing being thought of or worried about/over is specific and identifiable (to emphasize). 6. Appeasement, apology, a sop, etc. that can get person out of mood will not be provided or available in the situation. __________________ 7. Broodiness 'solves' problem. That is, mood serves some purpose(s). In other words, worry or thought provides a 'solution' (= a plan), even if only a temporary one. 8. Solution from outcome of the thought or worry is a 'cure-all'. That is, the issues earlier ignored become unimportant after getting out of the mood. And nothing that was earlier ignored is revisited.
