| PREFERMENT (1) Definitions: i. (formal) The act of being given a better and more important job in an organization. ii. (formal) The fact of being given a more important job or a higher rank. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary to assign person to a higher position. 2. 'Promotion' or elevation was not applied, 'fought' or lobbied for. 3. Not moved to new job late or in an acting capacity (connect to #5). 4. Earned or deserved. That is, qualification or eligibility to be raised, will not be in doubt. In other words, not a prearranged act, however long the person will remain in the new job. 5. The wherewithal and authority, a readiness and willingness, by who is moved up, to perform creditably in new job, will be possessed, be present and available, whether or not 'promotion' was a surprise. 6.
