Definition: A fixed form of words that you can say when you speak to God.

1. Purposeful and necessary.

2. Written down (read) or known by heart (recited), wordings are same and never said in prayer to God with a mistake.

3. Wordings are understood. That is, person talking knows exactly what he or she is saying.

GIVING THANKS, MAKING DEMANDS, COMPLAINING?


4. (if the truth be told) Boring and not truly inspiring, especially if the words have been repeated so many times before. That is, prayer does not really 'move' the person offering it. (Don't even imagine how bored He will be 'up there'.)

SHORT OR LONG.


5. Fixed words are said when the person is in a sober or sombre mood. That is, prayer is not said when drunk and is not that said as a tool used for/in teaching (to emphasize, connect to #3).
