| PRACTICAL JOKE Definition: A trick that is played on somebody to make them look stupid and to make other people laugh. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary; justified, especially from the practical joker's point of view. __________________ MORE THAN AN APRIL FOOL (not the season or place or ...). 2. There was a great loss suffered by who the joke was played on. __________________ VERY SERIOUS ('expensive'). 3. The person who joke was played on was believed or assumed smart or smarter; he or she was thought to be a 'genius' (to emphasize). __________________ HOW COME? (No excuses.) 4. Victim of practical joke does not plan to do something dangerous or bad in return. That is, vengeance or revenge is not on the cards! __________________ IT'S JUST A JOKE (... but more). 5. The person thought/believed stupid could not make up immediately for assumed stupidity - either too dumbfounded or the time available, if any, was not enough. __________________ SORRY (oh no). 6. Laugh or laughter by the others lasts for an appropriate time, and does not get out of hand. That is, no problem, such as being choked arises from laughing. __________________ 'FOOL' (it's okay). 7. People who had a laugh knew that victim was not really stupid. That is, he or she was not viewed afterwards as an idiot. In other words, joke achieves objective(s) as hoped for (connect to #5, to emphasize). __________________ 'STUPID' (... good for him/her).
