| POWER-SHARING Definition: A policy or system in which different groups or political parties share responsibility for making decisions, taking political action, etc. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for the partners. 2. Policy or system has a backing in law, or a footing in custom, tradition, etc. (to emphasize). 3. Membership of group or political party will remain intact as long as arrangement is in place. That is, there will be no defections or opportunity for cross-carpeting, etc. 4. The modalities, including review of partnership provisions, duration of alliance,, guidelines to exit, penalties for breaches, etc. will be clearly written and signed (connect to #5). 5. Policy (= processes) or system (= procedures) will not be susceptible to being hijacked or disrupted by hardliners or hawks within a group or the political party. 6.
