| POTTY-TRAINING Definition: The process of teaching a small child to use a potty or toilet. ______________________________________________________________________ * All ten elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary. 2. Small innocent child knows (= sees?) adult when he/she is using the bathroom or toilet (= bowl?). __________________ 3. Child is supported, to sit still, whenever he or she is put on potty/toilet seat (to emphasize). 4. Potties are many in location (= home) and strategically positioned along the child's possible route(s). __________________ 5. Small child is put on potty as soon as he or she starts to show signs of the desire to pass waste. Or as soon as it is suspected that he or she is about to pass wastes. 6. Potty and/or toilet is very clean, especially before and immediately after use. __________________ 7. Child is never beaten or physically abused in the process of trying to teach him or her the use potty/toilet. 8. Small child learns fast and stops the use of potty before he or she outgrows infancy.
