| POSITION PAPER Definitions: i. A written report from an organization or a government department that explains or recommends a particular course of action. ii. A statement of opinion on a particular question or issue. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary. 2. Requested for or duly commissioned to be produced; not unsolicited. __________________ 3. Never authored by only one person, no matter how brilliant or whatever his or her position (to emphasize). 4. Well-researched, that is, issue is thoroughly and fully examined and findings are conclusive, not confusing or indecisive. __________________ 5. Well written. That is, explanation is clear and will be easy to understand. Or the recommendation(s) in paper will be easy to execute. 6. Write-up is discussed and reviewed before its adoption by the appropriate organ of the organization (connect to #3). __________________ 7. Position is defensible (connect to #3 & #6). 8.
