Polling day
POLLING DAY

Definition: (British English) A day on which people vote in an election.

1. Purposeful and necessary - to exercise a right.

2. Day is 'marked' on a calendar. That is, weeks or months earlier, it had been known that an election will take place on the very day.

3. (Reserved.) (No campaigning on this day.)

4. No ad hoc or temporary or emergency arrangements are made on this day. That is, all plans for the election go well, as hoped for.

5. Polling commences at the right time (connect to #4).

6. No lack, absence or shortage of polling materials on this day.

7. All the activities connected with the poll go peacefully.

8. Voting does not disturb or inconvenience the other activities for the day. That is, free movement and communication, etc. are still on.

9. Day is not 'extended'. That is, voting ends at the time stipulated in the enabling law, even if day is ...
