| POLITENESS (1) Definition: The quality of having and showing good manners and respect for the feelings of others. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for the polite. 2. Natural, that is, not forced or cajoled from the person showing it. In other words, qualities are genuine. 3. Lasts for the whole duration that the feelings of the others last. 4. What is shown (= attitude and behaviour) is accepted by or acceptable to those it is directed at. 5.
