| POISON PILL Definitions: i. (informal, business) A form of defence used by a company to prevent, or to reduce the effect of, a takeover bid that they do not want, for example by selling some of their important possessions. ii. (business) A poison pill refers to what some companies do to reduce their value in order to prevent themselves being taken over by another company. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary (see definition). 2. Thing cannot in any way attract investors or customers. 3. Not an illegality or unlawful action. And the thing done, can or would, if required, be reported to the regulatory authorities. 4. Will not lead to the company's eventual administration or liquidation. 5. The company's value - healthiness - will be restored and increased after the 'hawks' are warded off, in the end. 6.
