Placebo effect
PLACEBO EFFECT

Definition: The placebo effect is the fact that some patients' health improves after taking what they believe is an effective drug but which is in fact only a placebo.

1. Patient was truly ill/sick or ailing. (To emphasize.)

2. An examination will lead to a diagnosis and/or prognosis.

3. Prescription was not handed over to patient - only the drug.

4. Behaviour of patient who believes that he or she has been cured or healed will reveal or reflect belief in the stability of recovery.

5. Assumed 'efficacy' of drug will be enthusiastically promoted.

6. A relapse will not occur after medication or drug has been taken.
