| PHONEY WAR Definitions: i. A period of time when two groups are officially at war but not actually fighting. ii. When two opposing groups are openly hostile towards each other or are in competition with each other, as if they were at war, but there is no real fighting. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and considered as necessary, for the rivals, and declared formally, by both groups. ______________________________ Forewarned is forearmed. 2. The underlying reason(s) or cause(s), for state of hostilities, is/are known to and by both parties. ____________________________________ All that glitters is not gold. 3. The utterances (language) and emotions (passions) exhibited during period, by the 'combatants', will be fit for a real theatre of war. ___________________________________________________ A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. 4. There will be no 'prize' in situation for who may seem to be more combative, hostile or aggressive. That is, no winner can arise from acts or actions that will be done in the course of 'fighting'. __________________________________________ There's many a slip 'twixt cup and lip. 5. There will be a certainty that situation will not escalate or deteriorate. There will, therefore, be no requirement for a mediator or peacemaker. _____________________ Pigs might fly. 6. No unplanned loss will arise for the warring parties. That is, no instance of an unplanned expense, environmental pollution, economic decline, or loss of human lives through propaganda, during 'battles'. _____________________________ More haste, less speed. 7. Will end after issue(s) would have been satisfactorily and amicably resolved between the two opposing parties. That is, phantom quarrel will be on for only a duration considered as tolerable. ___________________________ All hands to the pump. | |
