| PETARD Definitions: i. (idiomatic - be hoist/hoisted by/with your own petard) To be hurt or have problems as a result of your own plans to hurt or trick others. ii. (hoist with one's own petard) Being the victim of one's own schemes. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. The plan or scheme seemed foolproof in the beginning. 2. A successful outcome was being looked forwards to in anticipation. 3. No Plan B or safety net or escape route was provided for. 4. The intended would-be victims - friend or foe - escapes unscathed. 5. A considerable loss, disadvantage, etc. will be suffered. 6. Confession or admission of machinations or guilt won't take place. 7. Wounds from hurt won't heal or pains from problem won't end. 8.
