PEER PRESSURE (1)

Definition: The situation where someone does something because other people in their social group do it.

1. Purposeful and necessary to 'succumb' - even if it's in 'keeping up with the Joneses'.

2. No physical force will be used to compel doer to act or to perform or restrain from performing an act or action.

3. No blackmail, threat, intimidation, etc. will be employed.

4. Thing would ordinarily not have been done were it not for the others involved (connect to #5), even though no sanction would have been been suffered if thing was not done (to emphasize).

5. Thing done, or not done, at the time that an action or inaction takes place, will not be considered as ennobling, positive, okay, etc.

6. Person who falls under pressure will not immediately admit that action taken, or not taken, was not of own freewill.

7. Inability to resist pressure will be regretted afterwards, whether this is admitted or denied.

8. Gain, benefit, advantage, etc., if any, that will be secured in situation will not be maximally or optimally made us of, even if act done serves purpose(s).
