Definition: (usually - in passing) If you say something in passing, you talk about one thing briefly while talking mainly about something else.

1. Purposeful and necessary to mention minor matter or issue.

2. Talk will be meaningful; sensible and helps in an understanding.

3. Digression will not be returned to after a first mention has ended.

4. Listener(s) or hearer(s) will be attentive and grasp the comments.

5. No serious question and/or detailed explanation will arise or be demanded in such a way as to be expatiating on the minor subject.

6. The brief time that small matter takes will not encroach on the period available to conclude talk on the more important issue.

7. Who digressed and said 'rubbish' will not really remember or recall, afterwards, many of the details of the minor topic.
