| PALPATION Definition: (medical) The act or process of examining part of the body by touching it. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary (to emphasize). 2. Part is the right part, as determined by complainant! And time spent examination will be adequate to help achieve goal(s). 3. Hand that will be used to touch and press and squeeze will be in the best health condition. That is, no infection will be passed to body by who is touching, even if it is a self-examination. 4. Sense of touch of who is doing examination will be acute. That is, ability to recognize and understand feeling or texture, and to feel sensation, etc. will be possessed by who touches. In other words, reflex or reflexes will be present and sharp. 5. No unplanned loss will be suffered by who is examined. That is, impact or measure of touches will appropriate and bring no additional pain, distress, etc. or problem whatsoever. 6.
