Definition: (North American English) The act of removing somebody from a position of authority in order to put somebody else in their place; the fact of being removed in this way.

1. Purposeful and necessary, for person or group that removes.

2. Person to be removed occupied position legally (to emphasize).

3. All due processes and procedures for removal are complied with, whatever the 'sins' of who is to be sacked.

4. Act occurs timely, before additional damage is done or before it becomes much more costly and/or difficult to remove person.

6. Replacement will not be a lackey or stooge of the person removed.

7. There will be no chance of a comeback by the former 'overlord'.

8. The successor or replacement, even if he or she was the heir apparent, will perform creditably and better than person removed.

9. Person to be sacked does not need to be killed or incapacitated before removal can be effected or become effective (to emphasize).

10. Replacement is not removed immediately after assuming position. That is, successor will be the right person to fill vacancy.

11. Removal and replacement achieves goal(s) and serves purpose(s).
