| OLD PEOPLE'S HOME Definition: (British English) A place where old people live and are cared for. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary (see definition). 2. Manned by qualified professionals - carers, care workers, etc. - in adequate numbers. 3. Safe, protected and secured for the inmates and workers. 4. Building(s) and environment are clean, tidy and hygienic for all. 5. Care provided in place is of the appropriate kind. That is, conditions present are pleasant or conducive for 'transitional living'; place is like 'home' for oldies. 6. Structures in place are purpose-built, with the right equipment to enable mobility, convenience, etc. of residents. 7. Well-run or administered. That is, management of place is effective and efficient (connect to #2 & #5). 8. Oldies in place are not taken advantage of by workers, visitors, relations, the government, etc. That is, all rights and entitlements due to them are provided while they are in place. 9.
