Nominalism
NOMINALISM

Definitions:

i. A metaphysical view in philosophy according to which general and abstract terms and predicates exist, while universal or abstract objects, which are sometimes thought to correspond to these terms, do not exist.

ii. A philosopher who has adopted the doctrine of nominalism.

iii. The doctrine holding that abstract concepts, general terms, or universals have no independent existence but exist only as names.
