| NEIGHBOURHOOD (1) Definition: (British English) A district or an area of a town; the people who live there. ______________________________________________________________________ * All twelve elements should be in. * This is not about the residents. 1. Purposeful - the establishment of residences and provisions made for the residents. 2. Planned, well laid out, with provisions for parks or recreational places, commercial sections, industrial zones, etc. 3. Whole area is neat, clean and tidy. (But not like the 'cemetery'!) __________________ BEAUTIFUL. 4. Safe, protected and secured, especially at night - by a watch group or the police. 5. Has noticeable government presence - developed infrastructure, i.e., with good sewage, public health facilities and services, telephone and transportation, etc., being fully functional. 6. Not overcrowded and therefore its facilities are not overstretched. __________________ FRIENDLY. 7. Cost of living is comparatively cheaper than in the nearest district or area, in terms or product price(s), rent rate(s), transportation charge(s), etc. 8. The totality of the environment is lively (not boring), enjoyable (not scary) and fun (not miserable). 9. Area is distinct, not merged with or spilled over onto another. __________________ LIVABLE. 10. The people (= residents) are very well and healthy, peace-loving and law-abiding, nice, warm and excellently behaved, even if they are mainly of the happy-go-lucky kind. 11. Conduct and activities of the residents are not destructive to the environment or the ecosystem. 12. Each resident knows his or her neighbour(s) and everyone is neighbourly, especially in times of need, emergency or danger. __________________ WELCOMING. | |
