Nanny state
NANNY STATE

Definitions:

i. (idiomatic - the nanny state) (British English) A disapproving way of talking about the fact that government seems to get too much involved in people's lives and to protect them too much, in a way that limits their freedom.

ii. (mainly British) (disapproving) If you refer to the government as the nanny state, you disapprove of it because you think it tries to protect its citizens too much and makes them rely on the state too much.

1. Government provides a defence or justification for its actions.

2. Citizenry desires excitement and/or independence and/or adventure such that intrusion or limitation will be unwelcome.

3. No action will be possible to make government lose grip. That is, the law or legal system cannot be used to secure freedoms desired.

4. Government will not provide all that will be needed by citizens and will not wean citizens off dependence as long as it is in power.

5. Loss, disadvantage, inconvenience, etc. will be suffered by the people in country, publicly declared or privately whispered.
