| NAME-DROPPING (1) Definition: (disapproving) The act of mentioning the names of famous people you know or have met in order to impress other people. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. Purposeful (see definition, to emphasize). 2. Considered a necessity by the name-dropper (= poor you) to impress others in particular way. 3. Name(s) being dropped is/are correctly mentioned, spelled, pronounced, written, etc. 4. Person who is important or famous, that is being mentioned, is alive and very fit and well - not who is about to die ! 5. Famous person or people will not protest the use of his/her or their name, if he or she gets, or if they get, to know (connect to #4). 6. Evidence of alleged relationship is not demanded and therefore not provided in the circumstances. 7. People intended to be impressed are appropriately wowed. 8.
