| MUD-SLINGING Definition: (disapproving) The act of criticizing somebody and accusing them of something in order to damage their reputation. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements would be in. 1. Purposeful (connect to #2). 2. Considered necessary for critic and accuser to attempt to damage another's reputation. 3. Criticism is clearly unjustified. 4. Accusation is completely baseless. 5. Mischief is sustained for a long period of time, until goal(s) is/are achieved (connect to #6). 6. There is a basis, if not a justification, for bad behaviour, even as this will be unacceptable and indefensible in the opinion of right-thinking persons. 7. Lies and falsehoods are believed by the gullible. That is, act achieves objective(s), for those who accept story hook, line and sinker (connect to #8). 8. No opportunity will be provided for 'victim' to state version or to try to repudiate claims made against him or her. And no evidence can be provided in the future to disprove lies and repair damage. 9. A great loss is or will be suffered by the person whose reputation is or will be irretrievably damaged.
