| MUCKRAKING Definition: (informal, disapproving) The activity of looking for information about people's private lives that they do not wish to make public. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary, for the person prying. 2. Search is conducted in the right place(s) (connect to #4). 3. Information desired is not already in the public domain, unknown to searcher. 4. Search is never taken directly to the target in such a way that motives of searcher can be discovered or suspected. 5. Right 'dirty' information is got, however sourced. That is, activity achieves objective(s), even if 'scoop' is not used immediately. 6. No fallout arises from activity.
