Moot court
MOOT COURT

Definition: (especially North American English) A mock court in which law students practise trials.

1. Purposeful, necessary and very vital (see perfect SELF-CONFIDENCE).

2. Mock practise takes place in a realistic environment - with the paraphernalia of a real court, students dressing as learned friends, security presence (where necessary), etc. (see perfect WITNESS BOX).

3. Proceedings, procedures, methods, processes, etc. followed are as established by the extant rules and procedures of the grade or level of court concerned (see perfect PROCESS OF LAW).

4. There is a real judge - even if retired - on the 'bench' and court 'officials': registrars, jurors, prosecutors, clerks, etc. are persons with a background in law and/or with relevant experience in the administration of justice (see perfect REALITY (2)).

5. Practice is considered in the assessment of students (= baby lawyers). That is, work (= 'court' performance) is graded accordingly. And errors made will be pointed out during a 'trial', an 'appeal', etc. (To emphasize.) (See perfect LOGIC (1)).
