| MONEY LAUNDERING Definition: The crime of processing money through legitimate business or sending it abroad to a foreign bank, to hide the fact that the money was fraudulently obtained. ______________________________________________________________________ * All five elements would be in. 1. Purposeful, especially in the opinion of the criminal(s), whether or not an awareness is claimed by recipient(s) of funds. 2. Considered a necessity to legitimize wrongdoing or 'thieving', regardless of the possibility of a scandal or prosecution, if ... . 3. All the legal taxes, rates, surcharges, etc. (for company, trader, etc.) and due charges, commissions, etc. (for bank, finance houses, etc.) will be paid fully and promptly. 4. Transaction parameters will be 'competitive'. That is, exchange rates, projected return on investment, interest rate, brokerage percentage, profit margin, etc. will not raise suspicions for the regulators and/or auditors. In other words, it will ordinarily be difficult to trace dishonesty in the books of business or bank. 5. Business will thrive and financial institution will become stronger as a direct outcome of the 'stolen' funds that will be injected into their systems.
