| MISSTATEMENT Definition: (mainly American) A misstatement is an incorrect statement, or the giving of false information. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Not deliberate or planned; purposeless and unnecessary. 2. Efforts were made to get the correct or true position of things. 3. Understanding or interpretation - as 'lies' - will be right. 4. Loss will be suffered by only the 'liar'. That is, nothing serious or important will be done with the incorrect or false statement. 5. A sanction will be meted out to who provides wrong information. 6. The 'lie' that will be said or written will not be overemphasized. 7.
