| MIDDLE CLASS Definition: The social class whose members are neither very rich nor very poor and that includes professional and business people. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements should be in. 1. Sources of income or wealth are legal, known and safe. 2. No likelihood of the members in class going to a lower group. That is, average earner will not be squeezed out of employment, trade, etc. 3. It will not be possible to get out of class into a better or higher one. That is, no likelihood of jumbo increase in pay, benefits, super profits, etc. 4. There is no restriction on joining group/class, from either 'down' or 'up'. And group cannot be completely extinguished! 5. It will not be a 'war' out there, in the group. That is, some measure of assurance - even without the members cooperating - exists in the class; no need to 'struggle' to remain in group. 6. No desperation in class, even if there is no contentment.
