| MESS HALL Definition: A building or room in which members of the armed forces have their meals. ______________________________________________________________________ * All fourteen elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary. 2. Structure is solid, even if not purpose-built. 3. Has a standing and vibrant mess committee. 4. Well-managed and/or organized, administered. That is, committee members perform their roles effectively and efficiently. And mess rules are observed, in compliance, by all members. 5. Its kitchen is rich - by way of its menu and the dishes served. 6. The bar is well-stocked. And barmen/women are dutiful and smart. 7. Building has a variety of and an adequate number of recreational facilities. And the committee conducts social activities, whenever necessary. 8. Has civilians and retired/discharged members of the armed forces as honorary/associate/ex officio members. 9. Charges or costs of meals and drinks and other services - chalets, sports facilities, etc., if any, - are reasonable and affordable. 10. Building or room is clean, neat and hygienic. 11. Building or room and surroundings are safe, secured and protected. 12. No illegality is carried out in building or room. 13. Can be used as a detention centre, if necessary, but only for an/the insubordinate member(s) of the mess - armed forces personnel! 14.
