| MENTION (1) Definition: An act of referring to somebody/something in speech or writing. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for who mentions, even if this is considered as unnecessary by some others. 2. Person/thing is specific and identifiable - by name, identity, number, details of height, etc., etc. (to emphasize, connect to #4). 3. Period or timing is appropriate when it will make meaning and can help achieve goal(s). 4. No possibility of person or thing being confused or mixed-up with some other who or which has similar features or details. 5. Act is defended or justified, where necessary. And no unplanned loss is suffered or will be suffered as an outcome of reference made. 6. Person/thing is not needlessly dwelt on. That is, there will be no unnecessary repetition or undue emphasis on the person or thing mentioned. In other words, reference or references is/are made, the right number of times. 7. Speech, intonation, handwriting, etc. is clearly audible or legible.
