| MELANCHOLY (1) Definition: (formal) A deep feeling of sadness that lasts a long time and often cannot be explained. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements would be in. 1. Cause or causes of sadness exists but this/these are unknown. 2. Nothing can be done to assuage feelings. 3. Loss, etc. will be suffered as a direct fallout of situation. 4. Will not lead to the expression of a physical emotion such as a cry, shout, etc. 5. No attempt will be made to explain or understand situation. 6.
