| MASTER OF CEREMONIES Definition: (abbreviation: MC) A person who introduces guests or entertainers at a formal occasion. ______________________________________________________________________ * All twelve elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and considered necessary (see definition). 2. (Reserved.) (Commissioned, appropriately appointed/selected or duly delegated to perform role - not an emergency, 'unprepared' stand-in. And starts by introducing himself or herself!) __________________ ORGANIZER (not drunkard). 3. Knows the correct protocols, rules, culture and traditions, etc. that should be applicable in the circumstances. 4. Groomed appropriately - well-dressed, well-mannered, neat, clean, smart, etc. __________________ FANTASTIC (not famished). 5. Diction or pronunciation, tenses, etc. are flawless, with or without a serious halitosis! 6. Makes no embarrassing gaffes and clangers, especially those that will discomfort guest(s), celebrant(s), co-presenter(s), etc. __________________ BRILLIANT (not brash or rash). 7. Gives a composed, confident, informed, self-assured and superb performance. That is, will serve purpose(s). 8. Has no annoying personal mannerisms and habits. And faces the task! __________________ IMPRESSIVE (not stuttering). 9. Presenter has an excellent sense of humour, is courteous, with a smiling face, approachable, etc. 10. Does not perform the duties of another. That is, he or she is not the deejay or bouncer or server or ... . __________________ 'SPELLBINDER' (not a joke). 11. Has and follows a program, whether printed/written or 'off the cuff'. And does not operate such as to exceed the time planned for occasion. 12. Operates under the guidance or directives of an appropriate authority - Chairman or celebrant or sponsor or ... . __________________ 'MASTER-SERVANT' (not the 'mastermind'). | |
