| LUNATIC FRINGE Definitions: i. (idiomatic - the lunatic fringe) (disapproving) Those members of a political or other group whose views are considered to be very extreme and crazy. ii. If you refer to a group of people as the lunatic fringe, you mean that they are very extreme in their opinions or behaviour. iii. The eccentrics or extremists loosely associated with a political, social or artistic movement. ______________________________________________________________________ * All five elements would be in. 1. Persons in group will be seemingly normal in looks, dressing, etc., whatever the topic, wherever the location, etc. 2. People were never really docile or moderate by nature or about their convictions or in their attitudes, even when on 'sane' mode. 3. Too self-opinionated or self-satisfied, with exaggerated feelings of self-importance to deny being extremists. And very united, as an extremist group, to be divided or infiltrated. 4. Extremism will be 'controllable'. That is, opinions expressed or behaviour displayed will be within the bounds of law. (Connect to #5.) In other words, the members/people will not 'tip over' a 'cliff'. 5. Forceful, threatening, aggressive, etc. in utterances or actions, but these will not translate to offensiveness or physicality.
