| BACKMARKER Definition: (British English) The person, horse, etc. who is in the last position in a race. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements should be in. 1. Person, etc. is an original competitor. That is, participant in race was not a last-minute entry or an eleventh-hour substitute. 2. Prepared and planned for the race (connect to #1, to emphasize). 3. Efforts put into race by fellow competitor(s) were genuine. That is, the other racer(s) is/are not on performance enhancing drugs, etc. 4. Runner, horse, etc. puts in the maximum efforts into endeavour. 5. Has not surrendered his/her/its desire to end race in a better position or an improved placing. 6.
